Best wishes for a successful and happy team year 2016

Best wishes for a successful and happy team year 2016

We hope you have had a good, productive 2015. Now that we come to the end of the year, it’s great to reflect on the year that has passed, to register what has worked well and what learning opportunities we have had. Part of that process is to look ahead to 2016 and beyond, consider what to repeat and what to do differently. It’s time to think about next year and how to best approach it. When you think about your team(s), and how you will kick off 2016 in the best possible way, make “The Team Formula” and/or our new book “Leading Teams – 10 Challenges: 10 Solutions” part of that process. If you are a business leader, consider getting the book(s) for all your leaders If you are planning a kick-off, consider using the book(s) as a team-building tool for...

The Team Formula at the Gothenburg Book Fair

The Team Formula at the Gothenburg Book Fair

Last week the biggest literary event in the Nordic countries took place in Gothenburg – the yearly Book Fair. Over 4 days, around 100.000 people visited the fair. I, Elisabet, was there with “The Team Formula” and Mandy’s and my latest book “Leading Teams – 10 Challenges: 10 Solutions”, together with speaking agency “Kvinnliga Talare”.  I was interviewed each day on the subject of “how to create a winning, world-class team” and it was great to see how many people were drawn to this subject, looking for guidance and inspiration for great teamwork. The Team Formula’s story format created a lot of interest, both as an entertaining read and a practical team discussion tool, which was great to...

Praise the setbacks

Praise the setbacks

It can be tempting to constantly wish for great results and going from success to success. Smooth sailing basically. But that’s rarely how it is, is it? We all have setbacks, we all make mistakes. And it’s supposed to be that way. It’s the same way with teams. Sometimes things go easily, success is right there – and sometimes we need to come across hurdles, we need to learn to get over them, to find new solutions – learn new ways of approaching new challenges and situations. So the next time your team stumbles, welcome it. Look for the learning. Look for the creativity it can bring. Get the team discussing and finding solutions together, as great ideas are rarely a solitary Eureka moment – ideas feed each other and with great...

The WHAT and the HOW of communication

The WHAT and the HOW of communication

Did you know that only 7% of a communication message (face to face) is made up by the words? And that 38% is tone of voice and 55% is body language? Communication is a process, an action, but it’s also the execution of that. Or more simply put – it’s what you do and it’s how you do it. So, thinking about the words we use is important, but even more important is considering the impact the message is having through tone of voice and body language. Look at this picture. Imagine that the man is saying: “This is a great opportunity!”  Which of the faces match the words, and what message would you take from the communication? Facial expressions (part of our body language) speak louder than words, right? It’s not always easy to...

Swedish translation in the works

Swedish translation in the works

We are pleased to be able to share that The Team Formula is currently being translated into Swedish. The book in Swedish will be out at the end of the summer. The working name is “Teamformeln”.   Thanks for reading Elisabet and Mandy

Go fast alone or go far as a team?

Go fast alone or go far as a team?

We all face this choice at regular intervals. Sometimes it seems easier and quicker to do something on your own, right? Yes. But think about it. Speed is not necessarily the most important thing. How about distance? How about going the distance instead? How about breaking new grounds, coming up with new ideas, being challenged and surprised? Surprised by what others know and can do. Surprised by the energy and excitement that comes from collaboration. Surprised and rewarded by the new solutions that are created when people come together, sharing openly and generously. Surprised by the support that others can give. How about sustainable success, rather than just short-term results? If you want any of these things, then consider TEAM. Team is the answer. Teamwork...

The authentic leader

The authentic leader

There’s not just one way to be a leader. Each leader has their own unique way to be a good or even an excellent leader. In fact, the more you can tap into your own unique strengths and capabilities, the more authentic and effective you can be. Your authentic leadership is how you use the leadership competencies known to be effective and valuable in relationship to others. The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, it is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things Ronald Reagan When we’ve talked to some great leaders around the world, here are some of the leadership competencies they see as “timeless” and worth considering. And we agree: Communication, including feedback Individual development...
